1632: Lavra (Kyiv Cave Monastery) School merges with that of the Kyiv Brotherhood, forming the current Kyiv Mohyla Academy National University, historically the first cultural and higher education center in what is now Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.
1898: Polytechnic Institute starts functioning in Kyiv.
1919: The final truce between the Ukrainian National Republic (UNR) and Poland is signed in Lviv, establishing the Zbruch-Zaslaw-Olevsk-Mozyr demarcation line.
1919: UNR troops enter Kyiv.
1964: Ukraine’s first widescreen movie theater Ukraina starts functioning in Kyiv.
