Candoco Dance Company will perform in Kyiv for the first time on April 27. More than 20 years ago, this team was established in the UK to give people with different physical abilities a chance to speak through the language of dance. The team’s founders Celeste Dandeker-Arnold and Adam Benjamin try to prove to the world by their mission how broad is potential of modern dance and those who create it.

When founded, the company became the UK’s first professional team to include disabled dancers. By the way, wherever the Candoco performs, it also holds master classes to teach choreographers how to work with disabled dancers on equal footing with healthy people.

By now, the team has performed in over 50 countries on all six continents. Its founder Dandeker-Arnold was awarded a special diploma of the National Council for Civil Rights in 2013, to mark her long-term activity for the protection of rights and freedoms.

The Candoco will perform at the ZELYONKA-FEST at the Theater in Lypky. The team will conduct master classes on April 27-28, first of them a general one (with prior registration) and second, lasting six hours, inviting everyone and involving disabled dancers. The tour will take place with the assistance of the British Council in Ukraine.
