This show will be the fifth in the company’s decade-long history. The Kyiv stage will see MADRIN’s leading dancers (including participants of TV competitions “Everybody Dances,” “Maidance,” “X-Factor,” “I Want To Join Nu Virgos,” and “Chance”), performers from other groups, and students (future choreographers and dancers), including the Sports Theater’s acrobatic team, led by Alina Synytsia. The performance’s directors will be Maryna Kendzior-Vasylieva and Liudmyla Savina. The event will be held at the initiative of Andrii Pavlenko, the founder of the Heavenly Hundred Memorial Charitable Foundation.

The Day has learned from the organizers that the show will be called The Sugar Independence and reflect the historical events that occurred on Maidan last winter, at the time that has changed our country. Having joined our forces once, we have to stay in the fight till the end! The heroic and tragic events of the Revolution of Dignity found their expression in three stories staged by the theater. The first of them depicts a young couple who went to Maidan leaving their young child in their parents’ care. The second shows two brothers who found themselves on opposite sides of the barricades. The third story is about two lovers whose romance was cut short by a sniper’s bullet... This ballet will tell the story of the Ukrainian people who left their homes and came to Maidan to uphold their European choice and defend their future. This event has begun the modern history of our nation, it saw the first blood shed by the Heavenly Hundred heroes, and now the fighting in eastern Ukraine is about more than just the fate of Ukraine and independence of our country, as World War III looms as a real prospect.
