The exhibition “Nugget” opened at the National Museum of Ukrainian Decorative Folk Art on November 15. Displayed there are works by a famous Galician gem cutter, holder of full set of the Faberge Memorial Fund’s awards Oleksandr Miroshnikov. The event’s co-organizer is the Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine. Let us recall that Kyivites and guests of our capital first encountered Miroshnikov’s works at his solo exhibition, held at the National Museum of Ukrainian Decorative Folk Art in 2004.

It prompted the critics to call the master “the Galician Faberge.” With every passing year, the artist has been mastering new gem cutting technologies and ways of combining different materials to achieve outstanding expressiveness and picturesqueness. Miroshnikov’s themes are impressively diverse, including everyday life and the natural world, and ranging from the Stone Age, Trypillian culture, Scythians and other cultures to the outer space. The master is in the prime of life and talent now. His works have been acquired by private collectors from Ukraine, other European nations, and the Americas. Experts and mass audience agree that his gems are high points of not just Ukrainian, but world jewelry art, too.

The unique works will be exhibited till December 6.
