“The Grotesque in Contemporary Art-2007,” initiated by Orest Holubets, pro-rector of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, is the third “scandalous” exhibit to take place in Lviv in the last nine years. More than 20 artists are taking part in the show being held at the Museum of Ethnography and Art Trade. All of the artists tried to interpret a topic that is difficult for some to understand.
Some visitors are astonished: “How can such things be displayed in a museum?” But the exhibit is not just popular with progressive students. Respectable Lviv residents also come with their children. The latest experiment is a success.
