06 March, 17:16

Gary Bowman Gallery on 18 Severyna Nalyvaika Street in Lviv hosts exhibition of book graphics “Black-and-White World in Which Color Lives” that presents art work of Ivetta Kliuchkovska.

In her creative career the illustrator worked on over 30 books, most of them for children. Her art works have been displayed at 60 exhibitions, including international ones. However, it is the first solo exhibition the author ventured to open in her native Lviv.

Daughter of a well-known Lviv-based graphic artist Volodymyr Pinihin and a graduate of Lviv Polygraphic Institute [now the Academy of Printing. – Author], Ivetta Kliuchkovska has been engaged in book illustrating since 1985. She began her artistic career in the Kameniar publishing house. She also made illustrations for books published by the Veselka publishing house (Girl from the Future, The Little Mermaid, Cat Vorkot Tales). She received training in workshops of Mazerel Center in Belgium. Several years ago Kliuchkovska got back to illustrating books for Lviv-based publishing houses, such as Avers, Svit, Svichado, and Staroho Leva Publishing House. She designed illustrations for Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift, Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, Great Adventures of a Little Cat by Yurii Brezan, Secrets of Cossack Saber by Zirka Menzatiuk, Incredible Adventures of Ivan Syla by Oleksandr Havrosh. Presently Kliuchkovska works for the magazine Anheliatko.

The artist always emphasizes the family tradition in her creative work. She is convinced that things that person sees while still being a child he carries with him in adult life.

You can travel back to the world of exciting children’s impressions through the eyes of Ivetta Kliuchkovska until March 9.
