Life energy and love to Ukraine combined with artistic-philosophical parabolism are typical attributes of the style of a painter of a bright artistic temperament Ihor Havryshkevych. The author shows inclination for conditionally decorative monumental decision, generalized and stylized images with prevailing bright colors.

Ihor Havryshkevych is an assistant professor of the department of academic painting of the Lviv National Academy of Arts, a Merited Worker of Art of Ukraine, and member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. He was born on March 13, 1955 in the village Lypovets, Yavoriv raion, Lviv oblast in a peasant family with many children. Having decided to dedicate his life to art, Havryshkevych entered in 1977 the then Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Art, department of artistic ceramics. Since that time the academy has been taking a special place in his life, because it shaped his artistic world outlook. The artist has taken part in 50 exhibits of various scales in Ukraine and abroad. Many of his works are stored not only in Ukrainian museums, but many European museums and private collections as well.

According to the director of the Museum of History of the Ostroh Academy, Ph.D. in History, Anastasia Kheleniuk, the artist uses mostly the technical methods of post-impressionism and expressionism. “His task is not only to depict, but also reconstruct with the help of artistic means, in particular coloristics, his emotional state concerning certain event, experienced moment, communication with Ukrainians,” Anastasia says, “The images and symbols in the works by Ihor Havryshkevych are clearly read and indisputably reveal the character and mood of the works. It is worth mentioning that the artist not only plunges into landscapes and still lifes, but sharply reacts to the social situation. So, there are works that were inspired by the time of the Orange Revolution and events of the Revolution of Dignity.”

At the invitation of the students of the Ostroh Academy Havryshkevych brought his 53 works. The exhibit will last in the art gallery of the higher educational institution till the beginning of December.
