Piles of drawings and paper sketches, preparatory drawings on canvas, on cardboard (in fact – on anything) remain in the artist’s workshop little known, or even just “classified” for the audience, observes i-pro.kiev.ua. They are the beginning, the moment of communication between an artist and a subject; they are the moment when the author has already overcome the moments of contemplation before a clean sheet, and touched it with his uncertain hand in an attempt to capture the impression, “to stop a moment.” Who knows how many studies the hand commits in the process of turning a creative idea into a finished work? The interest of true scholars and collectors always lies beyond the reference works of the authors. The researchers are more happy to take a glimpse into the “artist’s kitchen” and peek a sketch related to a famous work, or a quick outline of random thoughts on paper. If they are lucky, that is, because such preparatory material is almost always destined to spend its entire life in a secluded drawer once the actual picture is complete.

To change the fate of the “classified materials,” the author should be courageous and confident in their creativity. Renowned artist Boris Yeghiazaryan is not afraid of risk, and offers the audience to get acquainted with some of the secrets of his art studio.

The exhibition will last through June 24.
