In 2017, the competition received over 2,300 submissions from 64 countries. Its experts have selected 15 winners across eight categories: books, children’s books, advertising, design, editorial, research, self-initiated and site-specific works. Aart-Jan Venema from the Netherlands has won the Overall Professional Award, while Marco Palena from Italy has been recognized as the best of “new talents.”

Italian artist Rosalba Cafforio’s Alice in Wonderland (pictured) has won in the Self-Initiated New Talent category. Cafforio draws illustrations for the fashion industry. She was inspired to create Alice by the Dolce & Gabbana collection and the Asian model Cong He. The picture shows a modern-day Alice at the Mad Hatter’s tea party. The work was created using a graphics tablet.
