Museum representatives

The Day began meeting art masterpieces by visiting Kyiv’s National Art Museum
02 March, 00:00

Over the past 110 years, the collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine has acquired over 40,000 works, including masterpieces of painting, sculpture, graphics, and decorative art from the 12th century to the present day. Most of these treasures are hard to reach for Ukrainian art aficionados, for they are kept at museum repositories and are exhibited only when there is a good occasion.

It is for this reason that The Day has been gradually acquainting its readers with the beautiful pieces of Ukrainian art – we are printed museum representatives of sorts.

“Unfortunately, we often forget in our daily routine that art can distract one from problems, enrich one spiritually, arouse creative strength, and preserve the values of a certain time period,” National Art Museum staff say. “We invite Den/The Day readers to enjoy beauty and discover our museum’s rich collection. This can simplify, in a way, the path to beauty and creative work, although it cannot fully replace a direct contact with art.” Indeed, the newspaper format is unable to replace a direct contact with a piece of art, but it may well promote this kind of communication. From now on, Den/The Day’s pages are also an art intermediary between readers and Ukrainian museums.

Today The Day begins to present different-period oeuvres from the collection of the National Art Museum of Ukraine. Waiting in line are the other museums of this country. We wish you good art impressions!
