The Two

The fortress gallery Bastion in Ivano-Frankivsk has put on display works by Ternopil photo artist Yulia Versta. The girl is a member of the Union of Photo Artists of Ukraine, even though she took her first picture just five years ago. She has no technical training in the field, having majored in art design, so her works exhibit some artistic vision. This is the sixth photo exhibition of the young master.

“When I encountered twins for the first time, I realized that they were much more interesting than I had previously thought,” Versta told us. “Even during the filming, I noticed that they looked at each other as in a mirror. The world of the two cannot be understood by millions, as they have a universe of their own.”

The photographer told us that the idea to film twins had occurred to her on a birthday. She went to put it into practice without delay. The girl admitted that finding suitable twins had not been easy. She remembers every photo session. In particular, she filmed two young heroines Marta and Alina with great interest. The girls love ballet, so filming had to be done at a ballet studio which was the familiar environment for the children. After all, Versta recalled that she had wanted to picture them as they really were.

Each photo has an idea of its own. “Everyone is alone on this planet, as all people are unique. Twins, however, always have one another. I do not know whether it is a bug or a feature, but there are always two of them,” the artist shared her thoughts.
