04 April, 10:04

First tour of this famous music team will be held at the Ukraina Palace on April 11. Yanni Hryssomallis represents not only melodies of his native Greece, but also the versatile sound of southeastern Europe. Yanni’s music is piano ballads with Greek, Indian, Arab, and even Japanese motifs in symphony performance. People in the Middle East and even in the former Soviet Caucasus consider him to be one their own… His concerts are grand performances – international team of musicians help maestro create them. The concert program includes the best compositions of the musician and the new ones from the studio album Truth of Touch. In the end of the 1980s Yanni Hryssomallis formed his own style, which is often associated with the concept of “new age,” although the musician prefers the definition of “contemporary instrumental music.” In 1992 his album Dare to Dream was nominated for Grammy and people in the advertising industry noticed the Greek-American composer. Yanni’s concert “In My Time” in the Athenian Acropolis, filmed on video, became his triumph. The scale and transnational flavor became the crucial traits of the show. This album also was nominated for Grammy.

Yanni Hryssomallis and his band orchestra of instrumental music Yanni will give their first concert in Kyiv (as a part of the concert tour “A World without Borders”). Japanese violinist with two fellow Armenians, harpist from Paraguay, and Venezuelan trumpeter will perform together with the maestro.

It is hard to specify the genre in which Yanni Hryssomallis performs his compositions, his music is a mixture of electro-pop music, folk style music, jazz, and classical music.

By the way, Hryssomallis has been active in social work and cooperates with organizations such as UNESCO, WWF, and NASA. “The things that we do for the planet are the things that we do for ourselves” – this was the principle that guided the musician when he took part in a joint project with WWF dedicated to the protection of giant pandas.
