On October 14-25 the Taras Shevchenko National Museum presents an exhibit by Iryna Murashchyk. The vernissage is called “Seeing the World through a Crystal-Clear Soul,” and includes pastel work and weaving. Pastels by Iryna capture the nobility, purity and freshness of color, its velvet texture, the liveliness of strokes and vibration of lines. Romantic-realistic perception, lyricism, metaphysic spaciousness, scrupulous attention to details, conceptual generalizations and rethinking what we have seen — these are the effects of her works. The artist depicted architectural motifs and monuments of western Ukraine, especially from the Lviv region, in her famous series “Castles.” A big part of these works decorate the building of the Dnister Hotel in Lviv. The artist also works with textiles (small tapestries). In mini-gobelins by Murashchyk one can find a new understanding of the artistic foundations of avant-garde, national imitative arts and technological possibilities of decorative weaving, in particular, by revealing their potential in terms of texture. Iryna’s gobelins often focus on avant-garde and modern, poly-stylistic compositions and refined decorative-relief textures. Similarly to her pastels, the illusion of space is also important in her woven work. The vividness representative of the artistic dynasty of the Minkos can be found in the works by Murashchyk, who continues realizing the mission of her father Oleh Minko: “Be a glory for the people for the sake of whom you create.”
