Let us recall that the project “Treasures from the Museum Collection: White Album” is composed of three chapters. Each chapter covers a number of well-known, iconic artists of different generations and different styles. The first chapter was launched in December past year, while in early February fans of contemporary art saw the exhibition’s continuation, or the second chapter, while the final part, Chapter 3, is launched today.

As The Day learned from organizers of this creative project, they selected the best works, broadly representative of Ukrainian artists’ achievements, out of more than 5,800 exhibits held by the museum in its collection of works of art that have been collected during 11 years of its existence.

Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the works of 79 highly individual masters, all of them creative, touching, and unusual artists. Among them, one will find perceptive Larysa Brovdi and colorful Ivan Brovdi, as well as Oleksandr Aksinin, who was called “the Lviv Durer” and who will surprise you with scrupulous attention to detail. Vasyl Bazhai’s creative legacy will be of interest as well. It will be impossible to leave without looking at works of the founder of hyper-realism Serhii Baziliev. Paintings of Eduard Belsky will push one to meditate. The visitor will be charmed with magnetism of Volodymyr Bovkun’s images and covered in light emanating from Oleh Voloshynov’s ones. The legendary Ivan Marchuk is represented by his “pliontanist” works (pictured), created according to the artist’s method relying on his unusual worldview and its transfer to the canvas, which is characterized by asymmetry of rhythmic contractions in color and strokes, metaphor and symbolism, and deformation of images which achieves the effect of climactic tension in static images; he focuses on the themes of existence, being human, human being’s place in the world, and the problems of self-exploration. Meanwhile, young artist Zoia Orlova will hypnotize the visitor with her work, while Mykhailo Demtsiu will present a world full of unexpected optimism...

The Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine is the only museum in this country to hold works of many artists belonging to different schools and trends in all regions of Ukraine from the 1930s through the present.

The exhibition “Treasures from the Museum Collection: White Album” will run till April 24.
